We were given the opportunity to sign our students up for free STEM classes starting in February! We are excited to be able to introduce our students to the world of science and technology. Please look at the brochure listed to see all the exciting prospects our students are capable of engaging in.

Just want to inform you of what Edgenuity is doing in the coming weeks. First, I just wanted to say that the campus is still sanitizing the campus to be Covid free. Second, we will be starting our annual Boot Camp February 1, 2021. Boot Camp is a review of all the materials covered during the year to get students prepared and ready for the STAAR test. Third, our 7th grader will be taking the STAAR writing test toward the end of February and we are preparing the 7th graders for the writing test. Fourth, students will be testing this week in all subjects. These are just a few things we are doing here at Lawson Academy.

The ELA team would like to shout out to our  TOP Scholars in each grade level!!  Keep  up the AMAZING work!!!

Today the nation has once again made history! Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have been sworn in as President and Vice President of the United States. Be sure to monitor the first 100 days of the Biden administration, as our 46th president tackles pending issues ranging from the Coronavirus and climate change to criminal justice and the economy. As we look towards the future, today marks a celebration for girls and women everywhere as we welcome the first female and first female of color Vice President! Finally, be sure to monitor the second impeachment processes of outgoing President Donald J. Trump in the wake of the D.C. riots.

Our wonderful 7th Graders wrote papers on "Why is it important to keep promises"  and began presenting on Friday.  Our scholars of the week are the 7TH GRADERS!!! We would like to shout out to our scholars that brought their "A" game on this assignment!  The following students worked very hard and presented well planned and organized papers:

Keep up the great work and writing!  Mrs. Nickerson and Mrs. Williams are extremely proud of you!!!

Hello Tiger Nation!

We hope that you had a wonderful holiday break and are having a happy new year! We are having a great 2021 here at The Lawson Academy! The students have continued to master complex body movements during our daily workouts in their physical education instruction in conjunction with gaining wisdom in relation to pertinent topics dealing with social emotional learning. We have been discussing the dangers of illegal performance enhancing substances regarding athletic competition, social and emotional implications of substance abuse, resistance skills regarding harmful substances, as well as, identifying well thought out options concerning the decision making process. The students have continued to work so hard and we are so proud of them! Thank you for your continued support concerning your students and our Lawson Academy!

Hello Lawson parents and surrounding communities,

This week in Social Studies we're learning about Sub-Saharan Africa (6th grade), the Oil industry in Texas (7th), and the Industrial Revolution in America and Great Britain (8th). Also, make sure to tune into the U.S. Senate election run-offs in Georgia. Finally, stay informed concerning developments in our nation's capital regarding riots and the spread of political unrest in the wake of Congress confirming results of the Electoral College and the recent victory of President-elect Joe Biden and first woman (and woman of color) Vice President-elect Kamala Harris!

Happy New Year from the Edgenuity department at the Lawson Academy.  Hopefully, you have had a restful and enjoyable winter break.  As we begin the second half of our school year, the Edgenuity team would, first, like to welcome those students who have newly joined us for in-person learning.  Please know that we will continue to practice safe habits to keep everyone safe while on campus.  Second, we would like to encourage students to gear up for the second half of our school year.  Hopefully, students were able to get some rest during the break and are now ready to put in the work to finish the year strong.  Students will need to continue working on their Edgenuity Reading and Math lessons.  The 6th graders will start Basic Math B and continue to work on Basic Reading A.  The 7th and 8th graders will continue to work on their Intermediate Math A and Intermediate Reading A courses.  We will also begin working with students in small groups to help them be successful in Reading and Math.  We are determined to make this happen. So, welcome to the New Year -- new year, new determination.
