Why Separate Gender?

The Lawson Academy, an open-enrollment public school with no tuition, offers single-gender education for grades 6–8 to better address the distinct needs of boys and girls. This model allows teachers and staff to focus on students’ physical, social, and emotional development in a safe and supportive environment that encourages academic success.

By tailoring instruction to each group, the Academy reduces distractions, builds confidence, and fosters a strong sense of belonging. This specialized approach helps students thrive both academically and personally during their critical middle school years.
