Students have been identified to receive tutoring during the instructional day, with an emphasis on the Mathematics and Reading content. Not every student is eligible -- but those who are have been partnered with Varsity Tutors, the largest national tutoring company. Our tutoring team is super-special, with tons of experience and who truly enjoy helping students to 'get it.' Thanks to Math and Reading instructors, we have equipped these tutors with Academy textbooks and resources to make these sessions more effective.

With tutoring and strong teachers, we know that our STAAR results will be awesome!
On November 4, all students participated in an engaging project through the Chevron and Houston Astros Foundation. The Whole In One kits were in every student's hands and allowed them to learn about golf (they even got a putter), nutrition, wellness and STEM.

Students are completing their own video and artwork on the theme: Get Out the Vote, Our Future Depends On It. This is a project in partnership with the Missouri City Chapter of the Links and gives students the chance to explore their artistic skills while keeping abreast of the current political climate. Sure, they can win prizes, too. Check us out on Facebook and Instagram...and Go Vote!

Some students arrived on campus 10/19 and were kept socially distanced throughout the campus. Mindful of the importance of safety, everyone was masked, and temperature-checked before entering the campus. Thanks to all the parents for their support -- glad to have a few students back in the building.

Students are engaging with the Missouri City Chapter of the Links to design art and put it on social media

Virtual learning didn't stop for even a second -- thanks to our amazing staff and parents for being the best in Houston!

The September issue of The Lawson Academy News was emailed to students, families and friends today. Info this month includes:

Students at The Lawson Academy are actively learning every day. Computers come on at 7:15 (some early-risers are logging on at 7) and we see students learning in their bedrooms, dens, kitchens, dining rooms and all over! Starting each session with a "check-in" using the game-oriented Nearpod, students are invited to participate in active learning exercises that keep them alert and engaged. Calisthenics, led by our PE teachers, get students up and active to start their day. In this new normal, learning is central to our students' success. Every day counts for our students. Thanks to our awesome teachers for making learning fun -- and to our AMAZING parents for all they do to support the in-home learning environment for students. Let's keep on learning!

Every student should already have their laptop or desktop and be ready for the start of school on Monday, August 17 at 7:15 a.m. Our first semester will be online (as mandated by the Texas Education Agency), so computers are checked out to support all learning. This year we also provide all the school supplies and a uniform t-shirt for students to wear during classes. NO EXCUSES! See you on August 17th at 7:15 a.m.
