This Is Our Year of “A“
When the Texas Education Agency (TEA) reviews the STAAR results, they publish Accountability Reports. This year, the preliminary results indicate that The Lawson Academy scored 89.5 on the STAAR.
That rounds up to 90 and an “A” score. WOW!
Welcome To The Lawson Academy, where young scholars in communities with promise grow in citizenship, academics, and personal development.
Where Dreams Come True
We welcome any students who willingly accept the challenge to become college ready and to demonstrate personal integrity and responsibility.

We Are An “A” School!
All because of wonderful teaching, strong and capable leadership, and the spectacular students in every single classroom. YOU DID IT!
If you pass the STAAR, it is because you score at MEETS or MASTERS Grade Level. Last year, 26% of student STAAR tests were at MEETS grade level and 21% of student STAAR tests were at MASTERS grade level. That is 47% of the school. It is about 15% MORE than the previous year of STAAR reports. It is incredible!!!
For the school, the way we know how well WE did is to look at our letter grade. Just like each student, the school can get a “D” or a “C” grade. And student results make up the school’s grade. Our school score comes from YOUR scores — a lot of MEETS and MASTERS, but it also comes from student GROWTH.
Not every student grew, of course. Some students didn’t attend enough instructional days, or were not actively engaged in learning at school or at home. BUT, we had some students that went from DID NOT MEET in 2022 to MASTERS in 2023. That is the kind of growth that many of the best schools in Texas can’t show. And students and staff at The Lawson Academy did it!
So, the letter grade of “A” is the best possible news for The Lawson Academy.
