WE ARE THE

LAWSON ACADEMY

Grow With Us. Explore With Us. The Adventure Awaits.
RELEVANT | RIGOROUS | RESPECT | RECIPROCITY

Welcome To The

Lawson Academy!

The Lawson Academy is an A-rated free public middle school in Houston that offers top-tier education in a supportive environment.

With separate boys and girls classes, our staff can address student’s unique physical, social, and emotional needs. We also provide all meals at no extra cost, focusing on learning rather than just keeping kids busy.

The Lawson Legacy

The Lawson Legacy began with Rev. Lawson and his wife Audrey, who envisioned a school where boys and girls could grow into responsible young men and women and exemplary community members.

At The Lawson Academy, character education holds equal importance to academics. Students not only learn from textbooks but also about proper behavior, kindness, and respect for others.

The school emphasizes the development of strong young individuals through a blend of academic excellence, enriching activities, and character-building lessons. This holistic approach ensures that students become well-rounded individuals ready to make a positive impact in their communities.

Life at Lawson

Beyond academics, The Lawson Academy offers exciting extracurricular opportunities, including robotics, drones, and tech clubs focused on future-ready skills. Our music, art, and drama programs inspire creativity and expression, while sports, including competitive cheerleading, foster team spirit and physical fitness.

Life at The Lawson Academy is enriched by the incredible support of our community partners, enabling students to experience the very best that Houston has to offer. Through the generosity of the Arts Facet of the Houston Links, all our students attend the ballet, with Prima Ballerina Lauren Anderson ensuring they have front-row seats.

Our partnership with AT&T has provided the school with donated computers, enhancing our technological capabilities. RICE University has supported our STEM program with funding and collaborated closely with our ELA teachers to enhance our English Language Arts curriculum. Chevron has made it possible for our students to visit the Houston Open, adding to their diverse experiences.
